    May Queen: Zoe Antrobus
    May Princess: Frances Cowap
Queen & Princess Crowned, and Fair Opened by:
    Mrs Agnes Gordon
Event Organised by: Elsie Evans, Little Leigh WI President

The sun shone on a glorious day for Little Leigh WI May Fair. The procession arrived at the Village Hall a few minutes late, but this was hardly surprising given the number of lorries, tractors, trucks, cars and attendees on foot.

In addition to this year's Queen, Princess and retinues, there was 2004's retiring May Queen Jane Pinfold, and May Princess, Stephanie Lawless. There were also 22 Queens and Princesses attending from other villages, including Comberbach, Byley as well as Northwich. In total, 43 children took part - a record - the youngest being 2year-old flower fairy, Holly.

After the presentations, Mrs Agnes Gordon, a popular and hard working member of the WI, as well as the oldest, crowned the Queen and Princess and declared the fair open. The Fair in the hall was well attended with raffles, plants sales, bottle and toy stalls, as well as refreshments was enjoyed by the adults, while the children were entertained by magician and clown, Barry Horridge.

On sunday, a special May Queen service was held in the beautifully decorated church. Jean Davie had arranged the service with the children taking a special part with readings and singing. The WI Choir also contributed as did the members of Little Leigh Baptist Church.

Thanks got to Elsie Evans for all her hard work in making the day possible, dress fittings, storgae and rehearsals with the children. Also to the Royal Drivers, Malc Evans and David Horton for the lorry and tractor, and John Proctor for providing the sound. A big thanks also go out to all the other helpers who decorated the hall and car park, and moved chairs and tables.
