The Stanley Arms Hotel stands on the Trent & Mersey Canal, right next to the famous Anderton Boat Lift. Known locally as "The Tip" because in the old days salt was tipped here down chutes into the canal barges it dates back to 1753.

Food is served from noon until 9pm (7pm, Sunday) and there's a good selection of ales, including 3 real ales. Wine is available by the bottle and small, medium and large glasses.

Outside there's a beer garden and patio overlooking the canal where boat trips are available all year round on the Canal Explorer.
